Rick Gallo is Groove Fusions Technical Media and Sound Engineer man. He was born in Oakland California. Hobbies growing up included comic books, comic books and more comic books, (with a little bit of street football thrown in). He enjoyed Marvel comics mostly, like The Avengers, Captain America, Fantastic Four, Spiderman and others. This is where he picked up a visual element of storytelling. Favorite comic book artists included Jack Kirby, Steve Ditko, John Byrne, Marshall Rogers, Michael Golden and Kelley Jones. He sold his extensive comic book collection when he was 18 to pay rent. In 1984 he began a career in telecommunications. Working for AT&T from 1984-1991 gave him some great training in computers. He then worked for Pacific Bell/SBC/AT&T from 1993 to the present, which gave him his first work experience with DSL high speed internet, which increased his computer skills that launched him into the computerized audio and video experience. He also has extensive volunteer experience in recording and duplicating audio CD's Musically, he is a listener. He likes most kinds of music and can find songs in every genre that he enjoys but he grew up on rock and roll like Electric Light Orchestra, Tom Petty, Elton John, Foreigner, Journey, The Kinks, The Beatles and KISS. His favorite radio station as a kid was KFRC. His first vinyl’s were 45's: "Pick up the Pieces" by Average White band, "Bennie and the Jets" by Elton John (B-side had "I saw her standing there" with John Lennon), and "Express" by BT Express. His first album was a gift from his mom: Roger Miller's Greatest Hits. Rick grew up around music. His father was a concert master for the San Leandro Symphony and taught himself to play other instruments. Instead of a "kiss goodnight", he has fond memories of his father playing folk songs on his guitar until he and his sister fell asleep. His father also brought his music to the campfires during family outings. Personal Message; I first remember watching Rod Trevino from Groove Fusion play music in a church dance band. The band known then as “The Messengers” played my favorite song "Pick up the Pieces". Rod and I became friends and I got to know his parents and some of his family and we ended up working for the same company. He started up Groove Fusion and asked me to join. Rod now does the website part of the media side and I mainly do the video to DVD and the sound board work for the band. Thanks for taking the time to read my profile. Hope to see you at the concert. Rick Gallo
